WoW Twitterparty: Finalized!

Do you play WoW? Do you have a Twitter account? It’s party time!

Join your Twitter friends Friday, March 4th at 5pm PST/6pm MT/ 7pm CST/ 8pm EST for a party on Fizzcrank – US!

We’ll roll some DKs, terrorize the starting area, and then attack the unsuspecting in Alterac Valley in a massive wave of under-geared PHEAR!

TO DO:

  1. Go to Fizzcrank – US
  2. Roll a Death Knight with your Twitter name on either faction. (They can look like your main or not, as you’re so inclined.) If you would like to participate in the Alterac Valley PvP Death Knight Attack, please roll an Alliance DK.
  3. Meet up at the DK starting area for a fun few minutes or an entire evening of  chatting, /mooning, group-pwning the starting area, and the Alterac Valley DK Sweep.

We’ll will be on Vent and Mumble; both have been volunteered (thanks to Time Wasted Tuesday and Spazmoosifer!). Vent and/or Mumble details will be /whispered to anyone who messages me in-game, to avoid broadcasting the info all over the internets; I’ll be playing Discopriest.

I’ll be there as an Alliance-flavored @DiscoPriest; see you then!

On Thursdays, It’s Your Turn In The Pit

Zelmaru at Murloc Parliament has been running a magical graphic feature called the Bee Pit:

The Bee Pit is where people who annoy us ought to be thrown.

Annoying PUG? Toss them in the pit.

Someone “forgot” to enchant his gear for the third raid in a row?  Into the pit!

Zel is as funny as she is charming, and when she requested a guest-drawn Bee Pit from your truly, I couldn’t refuse. Happily she’s decided to turn guest-drawn bee pits into a feature- Bee Pits In The Style Of Your Favorite WoW Cartoonist, if you will- and I’d direct all my cartooning brethren over there RIGHT NAOW!

Meanwhile, the rest of us can enjoy the fruits of her bee pit labors in the Bee Pit Gallery.

Cataclysm Comic Contest Winner: Character Portrait

The Cataclysm Comic Contest has at long last drawn to a close. Lady RNG was employed to choose the winners, and comic creation commenced immediately. The third prize- a portrait of the character of your choosing in the style of Disciplinary Action Adventures- went to WoW Insider’s own Fox van Allen. Despite his misguided attempts to play a shadow priest, we like Fox and were delighted to portray his belf Foxlight, fabulous member of the Choose My Adventure series and redoubtable teen idol. Foxlight, this one’s for you.

Raid Boss Theme Songs

While thinking about my raid playlists yesterday, it occurred to me that it would be highly amusing to try to match the ICC bosses to their own personal theme songs. (Please note, I’m not advocating the songs themselves- some might burn your ears off with Suck).

These are my votes, but I’d love to see others take a crack at it!

Lord Marrowgar
George Thorogood – Bad To The Bone

Lady Deathwhisper
The Cult – Spiritwalker

(Gunship Battle / Interlude:
Blues Image – Ride Captain Ride)

Deathbringer Saurfang
Mahalia Jackson – Power In The Blood

Festergut
Mason Williams – Classical Gas

Rotface
Frank Zappa – I’m The Slime

Professor Putricide
Thomas Dolby – (S)he Blinded Me With Science

Blood Prince Council
The Chemical Brothers – Under The Influence

Blood-Queen Lana-thel
The Eagles – Witchy Woman

Holier Than Thou: Basic Priestsources

The web abounds with resources for priests, but separating out the wheat from the chaff can be an exhausting slog. The following is a brief but comprehensive list of priest-centric resources that don’t suck, won’t give you a virus, and don’t try to sell you gold.

GENERAL REFERENCE

- PlusHeal: Extensive forums for all healer types, with excellent priest-specific boards.
- World of Matticus: A group-run blog from multiple healing perspectives.
- BobTurkey: Theorycrafting and healer math.
- Spiritual Guidance at WoW.com: A dual-author column focusing on priest healers on Mondays and priest DPSers on Wednesdays. The healer writer is dull as ditchwater, but the shadow priest is ace.

DISCIPLINE

- Disciplinary Action
- Tales of a Priest
Righteous Orbs

HOLY
- Priest Is The Word
- Holy Form
- Holy Fire Spec: A blog dedicated to DPSing in a Holy spec. So weirdly fab I had to include it (though even he admits he’s not a meter-topper).

SHADOW

- Pugnacious Priest
- Misery
- Twisted Faith: A super-helpful comprehensive guide to raids, leveling, and the like.

ADD-ONS

- Vudho is an excellent healer add on but can be (well, was for me) extremely intimidating to start using. Check out Tamarind’s idiot-friendly guide to Vudho setup at Righteous Orbs.

Have a great go-to blog or guide? Share the love here!

Holier Than Thou: In Which I Entice You Away From My Blog

Underwear Optional is turning a writer’s block moment into an opportunity to learn more about her fellow bloggers, which I think  is a fantastic idea. She’s verbalizing the very questions I’ve often wondered about my favorite blog authors, and I’m terribly excited to read the results.

The only omission I can see is that she fails to ask what kind of underwear you wear while blogging, but I won’t hold it against an otherwise stellar execution. Head over to her entry and answer the questions in her comments section!

1. What kind of blog are you? (ie. healing, hunter, general wow blog)

2. What kind of information do you usually post about? (ie. raiding, rp, your ingame life, pugs, etc)

3. What type of schedual do you use for your blog postings? (ie. once a week, once per day)

4. How did you decide on your blog’s topic?

5. What do you hope your readers take from your postings?

6. Is there anything else that goes into your blogging behind the scenes?

Eleventh Hour Challenge: Blasted Lands

Posted as my response to the Eleventh Hour Challenge:

Bah!

Another season, another senseless war.

It seems as soon as I patch them up, the warriors and knights run headlong into adventure and knives and long sticks with pointy bits on the end and back they come for me to wrap them up again. The ceaseless sounds of battle echo in my head when I sit sewing, as I perform my small enchantments over weak blades- when I’m asleep, even! And in the midst of the noise and dust and fearsome clanging, back my companions come, bleeding and broken and battered as if I’d never ministered to them in the first place.

I’ve had it, I tell you!

My mind, I think, had been made up for some time when I saw it: tucked into a hillside in this place called the Blasted Lands. Red rocks basking in the sun around it, buzzards keening in the air, and always, always the sound of distant thunder threatening from the mountains. Even the occasional crystalhide couldn’t deter this feeling. I had come, at long last, home.

Pink Sky At Night, Sailor's Delight

Brother Mahar Ba at Nethergarde Keep has tried to deter me. He says the swirling portal to the south keeps spitting out weird creatures from Outland’s desert, and that the orcs are most pressing in their desire to keep the sanctum sanctorum of their heathen Dreadmaul Hold.

Mahar Has A Lot Of Explaining To Do

He’s told me the local miners are desperate for medical assistance- apparently there’s some trouble down the mine- which does not surprise me. When I attempted to find someone in charge in the Keep, the place appeared to be all but abandoned! Even their cellar was quite empty of provisions. These people need me.

Who's In Charge Here?

At last I might sit upon the rocks and warm my fragile bones in the blinding sunshine this place has in abundance. I might finally practice my sewing without the frantic hustle and bustle Dalaran offers without respite! Perhaps in time I shall even delve deeper into the art of enchantment.

And then when I stumbled upon my home- well, it was as though the Gods had spoken. Just needs a bit of mucking out.

Baby, If You Ever Wondered... Wondered Whatever Became Of Me...

I love this Blasted Lands place.

It is unchanging. It is immune from the vagaries of the hectic world. It is perfect, and here I shall stay.

Elevated Discourse: Eleventh Hour Challenge

- Cataclysm Zone Change Spoiler Information Follows -

Cataclysm Zone Changes

Oh, The Humanity!

WE KNOW THAT multiple zones will be destroyed, remade, or otherwise rendered differently once Cataclysm drops on our delicate little noggins. So far as we know, those zones are:

  • Darkshore
  • Azshara
  • Darkwhisper Gorge
  • The Barrens (South)
  • Stonetalon Mountains
  • Thousand Needles
  • Stranglethorn Vale
  • Blasted Lands
  • Felwood
  • Ashenvale
  • Durotar
  • The Barrens (North)
  • Desolace
  • Feralas
  • Eastern Plaguelands
  • Wetlands
  • Westfall
  • Swamp of Sorrows

We’ll miss these areas when they’re gone, and sit around the Inn in Ironforge talking about how newbs these days don’t appreciate the lushness of Thousand Needles and wouldn’t know Auberdine if it fell on their heads.

With that in mind, I’d like to issue an open challenge out there for all bloggers to visit a randomly assigned area and run with it… with a catch. Your character’s mission, should you chose to accept it, will be complicated by a randomly assigned obstacle, tribulation, and/or dilemma facing you in your exploration.

The List of Adversities is is already created, but I’m keeping it under wraps so that everyone’s approach to their tribulation can be a surprise.

THE CHALLENGE: Visit, on your main or a beloved alt, your given zone. Record your thoughts in a visual, verbal, aural, or any other way while referencing your given obstacle (and any successes or failures with which you meet).

THE LOGISTICS: Email me at disciplinaryaction@yahoo.com or post a comment here to get your Zone & Tribulation. Post your results on your blog!

Aaaaand… go!
