These little Kirby/Big-Boo-esque icons came about one night as I was working on something completely different. I love representing each class using different art styles- in stained glass, as variations on the iconic Twitter bird icon- and they are, as ever, free for your non-profit, credited use as avatars or blog illustrations. There were even a few variations, but those were posted exclusively on Twitter.

5 Tips For Creating Unique Transmogrification Gear

If you’re trying to achieve a one-of-a-kind look but don’t know how to get started, consider trying any of the following:

1. Download the WoW Model Viewer, which is easy to use, and try clothing on your specific character model before making costly purchases.
   

   It looked so much better in the catalog!

2. Find two or three armor sets in the same color family- all red or all blue, for example- and try mixing pieces from each set in the Model Viewer
3. Select a two-color set that you like from the images below- say, red and black- and then choose boots and gloves from a set that’s just one of those colors (all black, in this example).
   

   Mix a solid color set with a two-tone set

4. Mix metals rather than colors: An all-silver chest and legs with gold trimmings is one-of-a-kind.
5. Combine pieces from armor sets which are the exact same models but with different colorations.
   

   Identical set models with different colorations combine in striking variations

I’ve been messing around lately with a few new artistic styles, and have gotten a great deal of inspiration from Medieval manuscripts and period stained glass pieces. I was so pleased with the way this piece turned out that I’ve decided to execute all of the Warcraft classes in the same style in a series called ‘Stained Class’.
