Boosting a Warcraft Character from Level 60 to Level 90: An Illustrated Guide

Pre-ordering the Warlords of Draenor expansion gives your account the ability to boost any character on your account to level 90. You can boost a level 1 character all the way to the top, or you can level them up to 60 and then apply the boost. Additional boosts may be purchased for $90.

Why bother leveling a character all the way to 60 when you could just apply it right away? One word: professions. If you choose to boost a level 60 character who has already learned two professions- even if they’re sitting at 1/600 skill points- those will immediately max out to 600. Professions can be very lucrative, but leveling them can cost you thousands and wipe out the tidy profits associated with them at end game.

I pre-purchased the Warlords of Draenor expansion as soon as it became available, and after an awful lot of hemming and hawing, decided to use my free level 90 boost on my Paladin, Acima, who had stalled out while leveling in the 40′s and never really recovered. I already had all the professions leveled on other characters, so I wanted to choose the best ‘overlap’ profession for money-making cooldowns. After asking around on Twitter and doing a bit of research, I decided to make her an alchemist/herbalist. I already had a Transmutation-specialized Alchemist on my Shaman, and many Twitter friends suggested Acima should pick up the Flasks specialization.

Bag contents are removed and mailed to your character; bags are replaced with 22-slot Embersilk.

The Boost Process: Once your character is level 60, if you’re choosing to get her there for the profession boost, you may click on the gold shield to the left of your character list in the WoW character login page. From there, the level boost process moves forward. Your character is deposited in the Eternal Vale at either the Shrine of Seven Moons or the Shrine of Seven Stars, depending on your faction.

Illustrated Cloth Transmogrification Guide: Priest, Mage, & Warlock

Welcome to the Cloth armor installment of our illustrated transmogrification series! We hope it helps your cloth-wearing characters look their best in any situation.

The Illustrated Transmogrification Series

Illustrated Cloth Transmogrification Guide
Illustrated Leather Transmorification Guide
Illustrated Mail Transmogrification Guide
Illustrated Plate Transmogrification Guide coming soon!

It’s time to get excited about changing the appearance of your armor, Transmogrifying your boring old cutting-edge raid gear into retro sets that match your character’s innermost self!

All cloth wearers can Transmogrify their gear into any other cloth gear with just a few restrictions. As far as we know, any cloth-wearer can wear the cloth gear of any other class, provided there is no Class Restriction written in the item description.

An evil Warlock masquerading as a sweetness-and-light Holy Priest? Discos switching it up for fiery mage outfits? Mages and Warlocks wearing each others’ gear? The mind boggles!

In order to Transmogrify your existing gear to a new appearance, you’ll need in your backpack:

  1. the gear whose appearance you want to change, which must have some + stat(s) (ie, it can’t be a grey or stat-less white item)
  2. the gear whose appearance you want to change into, and
  3. both must be cloth or a weapon useable by your character (sorry, non-’lock Tier 7 warlock fanciers)

Take it all to your friendly local Ethereal Transmogrifier, located conveniently in Stormwind and Orgrimmar, and drop some gold for a whole new you!

Notes: If you don’t see anything that speaks to your soul in these thumbnails, you can download the WoW Model Viewer (it’s free). Simply load up a character on the left-hand side, customize it to look like you, and try on every garment in the game!

If you don’t see a set that you know exists here, do feel free to let me know in the comments section or by email and I’ll add it to the list.

Locations given for higher-tier raid gear refer to the 10man version of the raid, unless otherwise stated.

Some additional color variation exists between heroic/non-heroic versions; click the associated Wowpedia link to ensure you’re getting the right shade!

PvP items coming soon in their own post!

Sounds simple, right? Right! Now the only hard part is deciding what to wear… what to wear… and we’re off!

Dungeon Sets

Dungeon sets are comprised of pieces which drop from a variety of instance (not raid) bosses. You do not have to redeem any tokens for these pieces, but you may have to run a specific dungeon multiple times before the piece you want drops.

Crafted Sets

These sets are created through Tailoring and present a unified look. In cases where both a Robe and a Vest were set options, I chose the Vest so that we could see more of the set (legs, wrists, and feet are often obscured by robes). Some of the ‘sets’ are only a few pieces, but they’re still kind of fun!

The sets are listed in order of increasing Tailoring Skill required.

General Cloth Sets

These sets are composed of pieces that either mimic an existing set, or else don’t fall into the general categories of Raid, Dungeon, or Tailoring sets.

Green World Drop Sets

There exist an enormous number of green ‘sets’ which share a name and look, and which can be found as world drops. These pieces frequently share models (ie, they look alike but with subtle shading variations), but present a unified look. Since they have stats and are cloth, you should be able to transmogrify into these looks.

I very much wanted to include drop locations of all of them, but they are so legion that I decided instead to just list them with a Wowhead link to the chest or leg piece, but generally they drop randomly in all level-specific zones. Some sets also include a tunic rather than a robe option; you can view those easily with WoW Model Viewer.

THE PVPER

Cynwise

Cynwise’s Battlefield Manual | Green Tinted Goggles
@wowcynwise

When you think PvP, only one name should spring to mind. The undisputed master of the battleground, Cynwise is justifiably famous for both his brilliant battleground acumen and the tremendous accessibility of his posts.

From guiding a new player through the murky waters of twinking, to thought-provoking pieces on the nature of battleground changes, to brief histories of the evolution of battlefields, Cyn delivers precise and fascinating information of interest to dedicated PvPers and battleground noobs alike.

Cynwise is a pillar of the Twitter community, where his assistance, encouragement, and wisdom are always at the ready.

Cynwise’s Notes, Outfit 1: Cynwise

“Cynwise is modeling this silver, black and red outfit, suitable for fiery casters with a bit of a dark side. Drawing inspiration from the gorgeous Mantle of the Scarlet Crusade, this is suitable both for roleplayers looking to play a disillusioned ex-Crusader or for PvPers trying to capture the gestalt of Drakedog in DD5.

The Infernoweave Robe gives an aura of subtle menace to the outfit, letting your opponents know that you mean business (and are going to resist their fire spells.) The fingerless Black Mageweave Gloves, made of the finest cloth culled from the desert ogres of Tanaris, provide protection while granting maximum dexterity for tricky spell casts. (Coincidentally, they also don’t obscure the sleeves of your robe, making them an excellent choice for nearly any DPS outfit.)

Cynwise has chosen to accessorize this outfit with matching Rose-Tinted Goggles, giving it an air of modernity befitting the post-Cataclysmic fashion movements while providing much-needed eye protection in case of a reflected Incinerate or Chaos Bolt. If you are not of the engineering persuasion, the Trisifal Cowl gives the outfit a more priestly look, but you may want to consider pairing it with the matching Trisifal Mantle.

Cynwise has paired it with Firesoul in the main hand, adding a Fiery enchant to underscore that this outfit is designed to blow things up.

This outfit is not for the faint of heart nor the timid of behavior. This outfit is for those who believe that the best way to fight fire is with more fire – lots more fire.”

Gear, Outfit 1: Cynwise

Head: Rose-tinted Goggles
Shoulder
: Mantle of the Scarlet Crusade
Chest
: Infernoweave Robe
Wrist
: Flameweave Cuffs
Hands: Black Mageweave Gloves
Waist: Inferno Waist Cord
Legs: Infernoweave Leggings
Feet: Infernoweave Boots
Main Hand: Firesoul

Cynwise’s Notes, Outfit 2: Cynstar

“Each twink bracket spawns its own distinctive look as players agree upon which gear truly is best in slot. This outfit captures the feeling of Horde casters in the 19 bracket during Wrath of the Lich King, letting you raid and Arena with retro-styling of the best twinks in the game.

The Inferno Robe was the best caster robe for all classes due to two reasons – it had a massive amount of Spellpower (+19 Spellpower!) and an item level of 40, allowing BC enchants to be placed upon it – most commonly, the +150 Health enchant. A Horde-only quest reward, this robe was far and away the best caster twink robe in the bracket. Before faction changes, this robe was worn by holy pallys, priests, mages, warlocks – anyone who could use the spellpower. Sadly, it was removed from the game with the Sundering, and later nerfed to not allow BC era enchants, ending its dominance and ushering in the rise of the Tattered Dreadmist Robe.

The Crimson Silk Robe captures the look of the classic Inferno Robe, with the beautiful details on a rich crimson silk background. Beautifully hand-crafted by artisans inSilvermoonCityand Stormwind, this robe will set you apart with distinctive, classic styling, transitioning from Warsong Gulch to Deathwing’s lair with ease.

The Sunderseer Mantle, with its rich gold and black accents, complements the robe nicely, giving it a martial air while letting onlookers know that you know your PvP history and that the PvP heirlooms were the first Bind-to-Account items in the game. The Lucky Fishing Hat completes the ensemble, establishing that your character is a serious twink, willing to invest the time to get only the best gear. Arena opponents wouldn’t be surprised if the black bubble of the Arena Grand Master trinket suddenly appeared around you!

My blood elf mage, Cynstar, has chosen to accessorize this outfit with the Dawnblade and Furbolg Medicine Pouch, both Stamina-boosting items used by casters in the 19 bracket. Keller’s Girdle, a popular favorite in the 19 bracket before the dungeon finder introduced other rewards, is slung low around her waist. And while the Magefist Gloves may be a more historically accurate choice, she’s gone with the Black Mageweave Gloves so as not to obscure the exquisite detailing of the Inferno Robe’s sleeves.”

Gear, Outfit 2: Cynstar

Head: Lucky Fishing Hat
Shoulder: Sunderseer Mantle
Chest: Crimson Silk Robe / Inferno Robe
Wrist: Mindthrust Bracers
Hands: Black Mageweave Gloves
Waist: Keller’s Girdle
Legs: Darkweave Breeches
Feet: Spidersilk Boots
Main Hand: Dawnblade
Off Hand
: Furbolg Medicine Pouch

Wowhead | Flavor Text Lore
@Perculia

Perculia’s influence in the WoW community is as pervasive as it is instructive. As Content Manager for Wowhead, Perc has her finger on every item in existence: Her massive four-part series on Transmogrification lists each set in the game. Her fascinating posts for Flavor Text Lore focus on the cultural background of the various races, and touch on heavy-hitting issues such as in-game harassment.

If you’re very lucky, you may even get a peek of Perculia’s real-life (historical) transmogrification picks!

Perculia’s Notes:

“I wanted to replicate the classic Perc look on Twitter and elsewhere–angry bloodsoaked demon hunter– but it’s leather! So I tried to find cloth items that had the same kind of aesthetic– kilt, buckled harness, sandals, dramatic sword that sheaths on the back. It can’t be exactly the same because there isn’t a blindfold (although male night elves have a face option with one) but I’ve tried to do some clever layering to give the effect of a harness.

As for what Perc’s classic look is? I was inspired by Alandien, the only in-game female demon hunter. Her outfit isn’t obtainable for leather-users (nonexistent kilt, plate top) but I tried to copy the general silhouette. Generally she runs around in a dark pink outfit– Battered Leather Harness, Mystic Sarong, Sandals of the Insurgent– that has some actual rogue tier– tier 8 gloves and shoulders.

As I’ve based the character on my imagination and also in-game events, I like including some nods to her raid gear. I also have an alternate outfit with the Buckled Harness, Stormreaver Shadow Kilt, and tier 4 gloves and shoulders. To complete the look is the trio of items from Black Temple– the Cursed Vision of Sargeras and the two Warglaives of Azzinoth. I have wonderful memories of learning Black Temple as progression– interspersed with terrible memories raging over Warglaive droprates and my guild dying in Sunwell– so completing the full set, even years later, was overly satisfying. Any weapon that sheaths on the back could work though.

If you want to see more shades of grey about demon hunters, check out the Ghosts in the Dark achievement, the Wanted: The Demon Hunter quest, and the NPC Altrius the Sufferer. Perc isn’t a demon hunter proper, but she knows a thing or two about slaughtering them after 10,000 years. She’s good at killing things that move, less so about giving up her autonomy.”

Morgion

THE LOREMASTER

Rades

Orcish Army Knife
@_Rades

Lorehound, Warcraft theorist, and hands-down the nicest player you’d ever care to meet, Rades has a mind like a steel trap- it must be the hunter influence.

His posts on potential new instances- My Suggestion for a New Instance: Stromgarde, for example- will blow your mind and leave you salivating to see their implementation. Rades’ frequent lore posts are hilarious and easy to follow (what is really going on with Neptulon?)- and his in-character letters are not to be missed (if the story of Gerk doesn’t move you to tears, you may not have a soul). We’ve never yet seen him stumped by a lore question, nor engage less than wholeheartedly in a quest discussion.

The delight Rades brings to the Warcraft narrative is positively infectious; reading OAK lends a tremendous depth to the questing experience that is not to be missed.

Rades’ Notes: Morgion

“In her ‘down time’ Morgion prefers dark, muted colors. Unobtrusive, nondescript garb that helps the wearer blend into shadows or remain unseen. Her outfit is suitable for comfortable meditation in the Undercity or some quiet back-alley assassination work.

No armor or metal since she wears those normally, and plate is bad for stealth. She feels that she must always be prepared for combat, so a small, easily-concealable yet sturdy weapon is a must. The sword is purposefully generic to hinder identification or eyewitness testimony. The lantern is a special Forsaken invention; it sheds illumination only visible to undead creatures.”

Gear: Morgion

Head: Cultist Acolyte’s Hood
Shoulder: Bloodthirsty Fireweave Shoulders
Shirt: Undercity Doublet
Chest: Black Mageweave Vest
Belt: Belt of False Promises
Legs: Leggings of the Icy Heart
Boots: Conjurer’s Shoes

Millya

Vidyala

THE RAIDER

Vidyala

Manalicious
@_vidyala

Vidyala wears so many hats- Guild Master, stunningly talented artist, blogger, community resource- that it’s sometimes easy to forget that she is a world-class raider, steadfastly leading her guild, Business Time, to heroic victory after heroic victory.

Many of us began reading- and fell in love with- Vid’s writing on her wildly popular (and now retired) Pugging Pally blog. She brings the same wit and wisdom to the Mage-focused Manalicious blog, whether waxing introspective on the role alts play in a raider’s success or jovially sharing her personal reasons for playing. Smart, insightful, and self-deprecating, Vid is the raid leader we all wish we had.

Vidyala’s Notes, Outfit 1: Millya

“Millya had a tough time deciding what to wear! This is
an outfit that has always seemed perfect for a fire mage to me. It’s a lesser-known (not tier) set appropriate for anyone who is a mage – or just wants to look like one sometimes (I can’t blame you). I love the hits of orange with the paler purple, and the fingerless gloves. They allow dexterity for spell-casting!

This is one of my favourite, easily obtainable Burning Crusade sets. Although the set bonuses are mage
specific, anyone can collect them as they all drop in Burning Crusade five-man instances and are not restricted by class. No coordinating shoes are included, because…well, Millya doesn’t wear shoes. If you are sadly bereft of hooves, I’m sure you could find a pair to look nice anyhow.”

Gear, Outfit 1: Millya

Head: Incanter’s Cowl
Shoulder: Incanter’s Pauldrons
Chest: Incanter’s Robe
Hands: Incanter’s Gloves
Waist: Sash of Arcane Visions
Main Hand: Blood Boil Lancet

Vidyala’s Notes, Outfit 2: Vidyala

“Vid, being a paladin, doesn’t often have occasion to wear cloth. The only time she wears cloth is when she’s working on
inventing, fixing, breaking, or otherwise exploding something.

Appropriately, here she is in a ‘working’ outfit, with the beginnings of her tiny robot army, and a stick of dynamite. What else does a lady need?”

Gear, Outfit 2: Vidyala

Head: Visage Liquification Goggles
Chest: Mechbuilder’s Overalls
Shirt: Red Workman’s Shirt
Hands: Archmage Gloves (random stat)
Waist: None (any brown belt would do, if you’d like one)
Feet: Bloodvine Boots
Main Hand: Arclight Spanner
Off Hand: Thermotastic Egg Timer

Liala

THE CLOWN

Liala

Disciplinary Action
@DiscoPriest

Terrible cartoonist, mediocre priest, and unrepentant abuser of PUG tanks, Liala should certainly not be a part of such rarified company. Unfortunately for all concerned, no one could prevent her lamentable inclusion.

Liala’s Notes

“I always get excited about outfits that look profoundly different from the intended ‘look’ or feel of a class; as someone who plays priests almost exclusively, my fed-up factor with loose dresses could not be overestimated.

I knew I wanted pants, above all else, and whatever I could find that was the opposite of ethereal and/or saintly. The Silver Thread set, with its figure-hugging cut and Borg-like sensibilities, immediately appealed to me. The addition of a pair of non-Engineer quest goggles and updated belt completed a look that was miles away from the standard servant of the light, but still evocative of the speedy ninja heals of the Discipline Priest.”

Gear

Head: Junior Technician 3rd Grade Goggles
Chest: Silver-Thread Armor
Shoulders: [None, though Astralaan Shoulderpads, Darkcloth Shoulders, Ironweave Mantle, Laughing Skull, Zandalar Demoniac’s Mantle, or Duskhallow Mantle all match the look (and it looks bizarrely amazing with any of the spiky PvP shoulders or Light-Mantle of the Incarnate)]
Shirt: Recruit’s Vest
Hands: Silver-Thread Gloves
Waist: Silver-Lined Belt
Legs: Silver-Thread Pants
Feet: Silver-Thread Boots

The Discipline Priest Handbook

A Short and Complete Manual of Healing as a Discipline Priest

Permanent Link to the most up-to-date version of the Discipline Priest Handbook

Not everyone dedicates the entirety of their Warcraft life to the incomparable experience of being a Discipline Priest.

I can’t explain it, but there it is.

Recently the difficulties associated with playing an alt- long-forgotten, rolled to fill some raid niche that evaporated, miraculously reaching the level cap by picking flowers- were brought home to me when I picked up my dusty mining druid and determined to shape him into a lean mean healin’ machine.

Things went badly. Okay, more than badly. I didn’t know what to spec, I had no idea what a healing rotation even looked like as a druid, and I was- to my shame- booted out of my first pug after two rounds of trash.

To my delight and pathetic gratitude I stumbled upon Tree Bark Jacket’s wonderful Resto Druid Cheat Sheet. Specs immediately become clear, spells made sense, and I stopped wearing cloth.

I asked Keeva of Tree Bark Jacket if I could steal her layout to similarly assist those 85 Disc Priests who needed similar help -the short, sweet version of How To Disc- and she graciously allowed me to lift whatever I could carry.

May this be of some use to you in your new- or continuing- journeys as a priest.

Godspeed, noble Discos!

Disc Priest Cataclysm Gear: The Beginning Raider

Please see also
Patch 4.1: New Gear For Discipline Priests
Patch 4.2: The Intermediate Raider – Firelands & The Avengers of Hyjal
ABOUT THE LEVEL 85 BEGINNING RAIDER

So you’re a level 85! Now what?

Once you hit 85 and you’ve gotten yourself mentally prepared to start running raids and Heroic versions of instances, your old 80-85 leveling gear isn’t going to cut the proverbial mustard any more.

The first raid you’ll look at running will most likely be Bastion of Twilight, Throne of the Four Winds, or Blackwing Descent, and this guide will get you ready to run it using Heroic instance drops, high-cost purchases, and even one or two raid drops (hey, you’ve got to run it a few times just to get the feel for the thing, right?).

We’re still maximizing:
Spirit > Intellect > Critical > Haste > Stamina

ENCHANTING RAIDING GEAR

Though you may be considering shucking off your newly-acquired low-level raiding gear for mid-range gear quite quickly, do consider good enchantments to be a non-optional part of gearing for raiding at any level. You’ll need the boosts enchantments give you, particularly regarding mana return, too much to miss out on their benefit regardless of cost.

Remember: You’ve gotta spend money to make money!

Disc Priest Cataclysm Gear: Levels 80-85

ABOUT LEVELS 80-85

The new Cataclysm levels, 80 through 85, will be undertaken primarily in the new zones of Vash’jir (80-82), Mount Hyjal (80-82), Deepholm (82-83), Uldum (83-84), the Twilight Highlands (84-85) and in the PvP Tol Barad, as well as through the LFD tool.

The recommendations below will assist you while leveling, while in normal instances, and beginning to run heroic instances. These suggestions do not include low-, mid-, and high-level raiding suggestions, which can be found instead in our Disc Priest Cataclysm Raiding Gear Guide. This guide also does not include those items which can be found in heroic instances (see low-level raiding gear for those choices).

We’re still maximizing:
Spirit > Intellect > Critical > Haste > Stamina

Be sure to check out our Disc Priest Leveling Guide: Levels 80 – 85 (incoming!).

Heirloom gear is not included in this list, but is dicussed here.

ENCHANTING LEVELING GEAR

An exhaustive list of enchantments would be too exhausting to contemplate, so for each piece I simply recommend one enchantment that I think gets the job done and will serve you well for most of your five levels. Re-enchanting leveling gear is, I think, neither time nor cost effective given the relatively small benefit you’ll enjoy while leveling.

Warcraft Christmas Crafts, 2010: WoW Potion Labels

A Shamelessly Photoshopped Representation

It may be some weeks yet until Christmas, but I thought we could all use a little holiday cheer and hands-on fun in advance of the season!

If you’re at a complete loss as to what to get your Warcraft playing spouse, friend, or family member, or perhaps simply possessed of the very emptiest pockets this holiday season (and who among us isn’t?), I’ve got the solution to your holiday woes.

Sure, you could send the object of your affection in-game gold, a sparkle pony, or rare drop. But what if you need something a little more tangible to drop in a stocking or push under the tree?

What you need is the Perfect Potion.

THE INGREDIENTS

  • Glass bottle
  • Full-sheet printer label
  • Food coloring
  • Water (or vodka, gin, club soda, or any other clear liquid)

To create your gift, you’ll need to secure some full-sized sheets of adhesive paper or ‘full-sheet printer labels’, which you can pick up at office supply stores, some drugstores, or online ($10 for a pack of 25 sheets). And yes, using the color printer at work would be very, very wrong indeed, and I’d only recommend that if you’re absolutely certain no one’s watching.

You’ll also need glass bottles with stoppers, which are quite unbelievably cheap- I’m talking a dollar or less. You can find glass bottles at any local craft store (Michael’s, say), or find them online. Amazon has a dizzying selection, as do more specialized stores like Specialty Bottle.

Lastly, round up a 3-pack box of assorted color food coloring at your very favorite grocery store, which will set you back the princely sum of $2.39.

Grand Total: $13.39

THE INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Choose one or all of the fabulous designs below, keeping in mind you probably need moar rage. Open the .pdf by clicking on link underneath the image you want.
  2. Print out aforementioned sheet(s).
  3. Take out your safety scissors and cut out the label(s) of your choosing. Do not stab self in eye.
  4. Fill bottle with water. Add food coloring until the effect delights you. Cap that sucker and dry the outside of the bottle thoroughly.
  5. Affix chosen label(s) to chosen bottle. Delight in the effect. Secretly save the best one for your own desk at work.
  6. Present to loved one and claim you thought it up all on your own (I don’t mind).
  7. Bask in the glow of their love.

THE FILES

Please do not reproduce without credit. Not for sale or exchange. Many thanks to my delightful Twitter friends, who were only too happy to point out ways one could meet a grisly end in Azeroth for the Healing Potion label.

Disc Priest Cataclysm Gear: Levels 70-80

ABOUT LEVELS 70-80

Northrend will likely dominate your 70′s, offering the best gear for your effort. Solo-able Isle of Quel’Danas rewards, high-level tailoring gear, and Hyjal vendor gear will give instance and raid drops a run for their money in these levels.

No level 80-required gear is included in this list. Level 70-required gear is shockingly useful at this point, and picking them up early can carry you through all ten levels with ease.

We’re still maximizing:
Spirit > Intellect > Critical > Haste > Stamina

Check out our Disc Priest Leveling Guide: Levels 70 – 80 (incoming!).

Heirloom gear is not included in this list, but is dicussed here.

ENCHANTING LEVELING GEAR

An exhaustive list of enchantments would be too exhausting to contemplate, so for each piece I simply recommend one enchantment that I think gets the job done and will serve you well for most of your ten levels. Re-enchanting leveling gear is, I think, neither time nor cost effective given the relatively small benefit you’ll enjoy.

Disc Priest Cataclysm Gear: Levels 10-20

Disc Priest Leveling Gear, Levels 10-20

But Wait'll You See It On An Orc!

ABOUT LEVELS 10-20

The first ten levels truly do breeze past; it feels like only five minutes ago you were running errands for the blue space goats on your crashed outlier ship- and it was. But times change, and with them we must venture out beyond the structured and harmless world of our priestly infancy and into the Great Big World, where creatures attack you on sight.

As you move through levels ten through twenty, gear becomes more critical. The turning point truly is at 15, when you become eligible for dungeons, have a few talent points to assign, and can .

At this point, you’ll be challenged to find anything with decent Crit on it, and most gear will have less Spirit than you’ll want, but don’t fret. Maximize Intellect, grab Crit wherever you find it, don’t fear Spirit gear (you’ll get that stuff with less of a fight from the mages), and throw in a little Stamina to increase your survivability.

At this point, we want:
Spirit > Intellect > Critical > Stamina

Check out our Discultimate Leveling Guide: 0 – 20 In Six Seconds

FINDING & PURCHASING GEAR

Particularly for the first forty or so levels, the fastest way to gear up will be through the Auction House. If you’re playing the well-funded priest alt of a high roller, all well and good. If this is your only character, you are, as the British say, for it.

I’ve tried to include gear that comes from a variety of sources that may not be the absolute top stat gear to provide the non-high-rollers with a selection of gear that allows for some variation in following quest lines, and just plain personal preference (I refuse to set foot in Silithus, for example, no matter what Discipline Robe Of Shazaam might be there).  And for those of you with a Daddy Warbucks alt suppling you with a steady stream of allowance packets, or far-reaching hopes, there’s a ‘Best In Show’ category as well.

SECRET TIP O’ THE DAY: I always carry two extra pairs of gloves with me at lower levels. I buy the cheapest gloves I can find and then enchant one with [Enchant Gloves - Herbalism] and one with [Enchant Gloves - Mining] (my two professions), then make a macro to slip them on quickly. When I hit that “just a little too high!” herb or mine, I’ve got them in the bag and ready to go.
